See your electricity as money
RBgrid is firmware for an ESP32 hub that reads rbAmp modules and shows what every measured circuit costs — right now, today and this month — on your own tariff zones. It runs on the hub in your panel: no account, no cloud, no subscription.
The rbAmp modules measure; RBgrid collects, computes and stores.
What it shows
- Cost right now per line and for the whole house, in your currency
- Today and month to date — energy and cost, with yesterday for comparison
- Which tariff zone you are in and when the cheaper one starts
- Where the money goes — share of today's cost by line
- Import and export measured separately, exported energy valued at your own rates
- History from hourly to yearly, kept on the hub, downloadable as CSV
Screens from the live demo, sample data.

Your own tariff, computed on the hub
Time-of-use zones with weekends, per-kWh energy tax, grid fee and levies, and VAT — each entered separately and all included in the costs. Export is valued at a per-zone sell price. The tariff engine runs on the device, and its code is in the source you can read and build.

Three ways to use it
I want it to just work
Flash the hub, install the web app, run the setup wizard and see your first costs. No code to write.
I run Home Assistant
Your Home Assistant stays as it is: the hub announces every point over MQTT and Home Assistant creates the sensors itself.
I want to build it my way
Full firmware source, an ESP-IDF build, and REST, WebSocket and MQTT APIs with a published schema.
What you need
An ESP32-WROVER board
With PSRAM and 16 MB flash — one you have or any you buy. You flash it once over USB.
Examples
Each one is built step by step on rbgrid.io, and opens in the live demo with sample data.
Licence
RBgrid firmware is source-available under the PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 licence — free to use, modify and build for personal and non-commercial use. Commercial use requires a licence: info@rbamp.com.
The rbAmp libraries and documentation are a separate product under the MIT licence.
RBgrid measures and computes costs; it does not switch loads.
Everything else is on rbgrid.io
Guides, releases, the web-app documentation and the source code.
